Tailor Element: Button

Make a critical call to action stand out from other content on the page using a button.

You do not have to Tailor to add a button. You can add a button through the default content editor under Formatting.

This tutorial is for the Tailor button element. If you’ve never used Tailor before, read the intro tutorial first.

  1. Drag the Button element onto the page or post you’re editing.
  2. Click inside the Button element; a blue outline should appear around the button.
  3. Click Edit in the top right corner.
  4. Label your button with a call to action or title.
  5. Select the Style of your button: primary, secondary or outline. See examples below.
  6. Horizontal alignment: In general, we recommend leaving it at the default, left; however, centered can be appropriate to highlight very important content
  7. Type in a link starting with http:// or https:// or click on the magnifying glass icon to the right of the link to search for and select a page on your site.
  8. Click Apply to activate your button choices.

Button examples

The theme has two different button styles. This allows you to establish a visual hierarchy so the most important links stand out.

Pro tip: Start button text with a verb to motivate your site’s visitors to take action.

Reserve for a site’s most important links or calls to action. Use two on a page only if the links have equal priority.

Use for follow-up actions to the primary button, or when multiple parallel links are buttons, such as the links to individual guides on the Guides and Tutorials page.
