Adding Video

Placing a video on a page is as simple as copying and pasting a link.

The preferred method for including a video on your website is to upload/host it on the appropriate YouTube channel, then add it to your site using the YouTube link.

Unlike images, which are uploaded to your site’s Media Library, videos are added using links or code, if necessary.

Uploading a video file to your site directly can lead to hosting, loading and performance issues.

Video you created: If you have a video file (MP4, AVI, WMV, FLV) but it’s not on YouTube yet, let’s make that happen! Send us a support request to get started.

Does your school have a YouTube channel?

Uploading your video to an official Washington University channel will broaden its reach and reduce the work it would take to create and maintain a separate channel for your group.

School of Medicine groups are strongly encouraged to contact Medical Public Affairs or Washington University Physicians to host their videos. Learn more about School of Medicine YouTube channels »
